These are two hills oriented in
north-south direction, separated by a slight depression. The hill more to the north is
Guayamurí, 480 m. high, and the other one, towards the south, is Matasiete, 680 m. high.
They are igneous formations with relatively gentle slopes. They are of mainly a historical
value because of a famous battle that took place nearby during the war of Independence.
Trees and shrubs have thin stems and are mostly deciduous, corresponding to tropical dry
forest. The average temperature is 27° C.
