* Characteristics
With approximately 400 m. high and
at a distance it resembles a gigantic dome which rises over the Amazon jungle. Its summit
is formed by three almost-vertical sharp peaks. It is described as intrusive igneous rock
and it is difficult to climb because its walls are smooth and steep. The forests which
surround it contain rare plant species which are only found in this area. The climate is
very humid, tropical, with a precipitation of over 3,000 mm.

It look a large petrified turtle in
the middle of the Amazon jungle. This strange formation can be seen from the air when
arriving in Puerto Ayacucho. By land it can be seen as an imposing structure when moving
along the road towards Samariapo. There is an Indian cemetery nearby which can only be
reached by river, when the waters are low.

* Characteristics
From the distance it stands out with
all its majesty of 1,300 m.. It is a sandstone formation from the early Precambrian era.
The top is crossed by a quartzite cave, unique in the world. This gallery is 395 m. long
and reaches a height of 40 m., forming a large natural dome. Here a rare earth mineral was
found. Due to its isolation, vegetation is not rich in endemic species, even though
certain new species for science have been found. Vegetation corresponds to the formation
of humid premontane forest.
