Location
In
the central-western region of the country, north of San
Felipe, in the sector called Cerro del Tigre-Chimborazo.

How to get there
From
the city of San Felipe. Or through different roads that
lead to it from the Sierra of Aroa.

Characteristics
It
was the fifth park created in the country and it is part
of the foot of the Sierra of Aroa, which separates the
Aroa and Yaracuy rivers. It has a relief of rugged
mountains and low gentle hills. It has a temperate
climate, with an annual rainfall of 1,000 mm.

Vegetation
Between
the altitude of 1,000 and 1,950 meters, there is cloud
forest, rich in species. The most common trees are
pigeon-berry, cupey, caracolillo. There also is a large
variety of mosses, ferns and orchids. Further down,
between 500 and 800 m., "the children"
dominate.

Fauna
There
are abundant reptiles, and among ophidians the most
common are the fer-de-lance, the rattlesnake and the boa
constrictor. The most abundant mammals are the red
brocket deer and the margay.

Recomendations
The
same as for any national park. In the case of
excursions, it is recommended to follow the trails and
be careful with the snakes, as there are many.

Facilities
In
the vicinity of the city, the park offers many
recreational facilities. There are places for swimming,
kiosks, barbecue areas, rest rooms, etc. There are also
facilities in the Cocorote, Cocorotico, Carabobo and
Tesorero rivers. The park has also many interesting
trails for excursions.
