Location
In
the Libertador Department, Federal District, and the
Municipality of San Pedro, Miranda state. It encompasses
the watershed of the Macarao and San Pedro and El
Jarillo or Lagunetas rivers.

How to get there
The
access is possible through the southwest of Caracas road
to Los Teques. Further on Antímano, take a right on a
short road that leads to the dam with the same name, on
the road from the Colonia Tovar to El Jarillo.

Characteristics
It
is part of the central sector of the Coastal Range, with
a typical landscape of mountain relief with slopes that
are not too steep. The highest part is in Alto de Ño León,
2,098 m. high. The dominant physical features are the
medium and low vegetation formations, and the depression
where the river flows.

Vegetation
The
flora of the park is varied and in some sections there
are trees covered with moss, bromeliads and orchids.
Among the tree species there are the cedar, saman,
immortelle, yellow poui, salmwood, etc. It has humid
forest and humid low mountain vegetation, and an area of
savanna which grew when the primary forest was destroyed
by fires.

Fauna
It
has not been studied in depth, but the closeness of the
city must have contributed to its dispersal and
extinction. There are still certain mammals in its
forests, like brocket deer, peccary, rabbits, red howler
monkeys, the three-toed sloth, the margay. And among
birds we can mention the Little Tinamou, the Helmeted
Curassow, the Band-tailed Pigeon, etc.

Recomendations
It
is not recommendable to go to the park alone. Numerous
slums have sprouted around the park, making it an unsafe
place. If an excursion is planned, it is better to do it
in large groups, with specialized guides, and inform the
National Guard or Park Ranger of the route, number of
visitors, trails to be followed, and estimated hour of
return.

Facilities
Very
few, and those that exist are located close to the road.
There are trails to walk on or ride on a smule,
observing the natural features of the park. It also has
mountain roads for four-wheel-drive vehicles.

Climate
Temperatures
range between 12° C. and 24° C., depending on the
altitudinal level. Rainy from May to November, dry from
December to April.
