Geopolitical division 

Carabobo was part of the County of Venezuela. With the first territorial division of the 
Republic in 1811, passed to be part of the County of Caracas and in 1824, it is segregated of 
the County of Caracas a new county with the name of Carabobo. In 1917 she/he is carried out the 
last reformation that it takes it to their current configuration. It is divided in ten municipalities and thirty and 
eight parishes.

The state is crossed by the regional freeway of the center that drives toward Puerto Cabello. 
Another connection takes to Falcon and Yaracuy. Toward the occident the other main roads 
they drive to the Plains and to you Walk them. The main populated centers are: Bejuma, Guacara, 
Güigüe, Mariara, Miranda, Montalbán, Moron, Puerto Cabello and San Joaquín.

TOURISM 

Important historical monuments exist: the Parque Campo of Carabobo, the Fortín Solano, 
the Strong San Felipe and the ruins of the church of Naguanagua. The colonial helmet of Port 
Hair and the street The Lanceros is very frequented. It has a long pier for 
to enjoy the sea breeze. They exist in the state beautiful parks like: Francisco Peñalver, 
Park Humboldt and The Dunes. The thermal waters of The Trenches are second o'clock 
more good of the world to cure different illnesses, other thermal waters of importance in 
the region is the Sulfurous of Mariara. Of the beaches: Quizandal (where they take the boats 
that they take to Long Island), Borburata, Alone Palm and Patanemo. In Guacara it is the Park 
Colored stones that one of the groups of more important petroglifos of the country keeps. The 
city of Valencia has had a great development. This has given place to the installation of 
numerous heladerías, restaurants, discos and coffees outdoors. It has the islands The 
Donkey, Caigüire, Otama, The Friar and other (inside the lake of Valencia), Goaigoaza, Of the King, 
Sacred Domingo, Long, Pelican and other (in the Caribbean Sea) for the tourist's enjoyment. 

Geography 

Geology 
Two big mountainous blocks are presented that occupy 73% of the entirety of the state. 
They correspond to the serranías of the Coast and of the Interior, separated by the Depression of the lake of 
Valencia. From the point of view of their litología, the serranías of the Coast and of the Interior 
they present a high and low metamorfismo degree, respectively, characterized their structure 
geologic for the presence of: anticlinales, sinclinales, diaclasas, fractures and numerous flaws, 
highlighting The Victoria's flaw located to the south of Valencia that gave place to an extensive one 
depression where the later action of the rivers has originated a series of valleys pre-montanos, 
and an extensive plain of alluvial and lacustrine floors that you/they skirt the lake of Valencia. 

Relief 
In the mountainous area there is you fit deep and high crests, with uneven topography and 
slopes that overcome 80%. The floors are litosoles with rocky blooming. In the 
depression is given a plane relief, with inferior slopes to 1%, which increase until 
5%. In the center of the mountain range it highlights the basin of the lake of Valencia with 278 km2. 

Climate 
The temperature is uniform during the whole year with a stocking of 24,5 °C. The precipitations 
they reach the 1 500 mm. in the mountainous areas. In the coastal sectors it presents a 
I average yearly of 900 mm, and in the Depression of the lake of Valencia it oscillates between 900 and 1 300 
mm with five or six humid months, approximately. 

Hydrography 
The net hidrográfica is dense, constituted by courses of water of little trajectory, divided in 
three basins: That of the Caribbean Sea: conformed by the rivers Urama, Moron, San Esteban and 
Borburata. That of the river Orinoco: constituted by the rivers Pao, Pacaragua and Guárico. And the basin 
endorreica of the lake of Valencia: toward her the waters of the rivers flow Güigüe, Guayos, 
Guacara, Ereique and Cabriales. Other rivers of importance are: You dilute Hot, Alpargatón, 
Bejuma and Chirgua. Thermal waters exist in The Trenches, where sources sprout 
hipertermales with medicinal properties. 

Vegetation 
It is conditioned by the changes of humidity, of there the presence of a great extension of 
forests always green along the serranías on the dividing of water where you 
she/he concentrates the biggest quantity in humidity. At the level of the sea the vegetation xerófila prevails and 
of swamp, while in the lacustrine plain the forest vegetation is substituted by cultivations 
and shepherding savannas. The readiness of agricultural lands covers 19% of the total surface 
of the state. The forest resource with potentiality producer is very limited, since its function 
it is to serve as protection of floors and it dilutes. They prevail: the locust, the apamate, the camoruco, the 
mahogany, the cedar, the guamo and the samán. 

Fauna 
It is characterized by their diversity of species, by virtue of the numerous hábitats, 
represented in the forests, savannas and bodies of water. In the National Park Henri Pittier, 
they exist more than 94 species different from mammals, 516 of birds (equivalent to 41,6% of the 
avifauna of the country) and 84 species of amphibians and reptiles. 

Mineral resources 
It not has mineral locations metallic: clays, gravels, sands, dolomita, marble, 
diatomite and calcareous; these last of high quality that allow the exploitation of the mineral as 
input for the ornamentation and the construction. Of the metallic minerals, they are only had 
detected provisions of mercury. 

Population 

According to the XII General Census of Population and Housing 1990, the population is of 1 453 232 hab, 
being located in the fourth place with regard to the national total. Among the main centers 
urban they highlight: Valencia, Puerto Cabello, Guacara, Mariara, San Joaquín and Güigüe. 
It presents a high population concentration in the municipalities Valencia and Puerto Cabello. The 
metropolitan area of Valencia contains the total population's 71%. This concentration of 
population has been product of the growth given starting from the decade of the 50, when 
the industrialization process began, with the consequent urbanization that is derived of 
it. The populational increase in the last years is associated to the descent of the mortality 
begun in the country at the end of the thirties. 

NATIONAL PARKS 

It has two national parks: Henri Pittier, in the Mountain range of the Costa, embracing those 
states Aragua and Carabobo. It is the oldest in the country, created in 1937 with the name of 
Big ranch and rebaptized in 1953 with their current name. And San Esteban, in the part 
western of the Mountain range of the Costa, between Valencia and Puerto Cabello. 


Economic ACTIVITY 

The economic activities of more development are the agricultural one and the industrial one. It is the second 
producing of orange and the third in quinchoncho and onion. Other items of importance are: 
cane of sugar, cocoa, tobacco, cotton, coconut, cambur, potato, corn, yam, yucca and caraota. In 
as much as to the cattle raising, she/he is the third supplier of swinish livestock. The poultry keeping is the activity 
with the highest rate of growth. The development has been related with the creation of 
industries of concentrated foods for animals, which give the matter prevail 
for the production of meat of birds, being the third producing of eggs of the country. The state 
it has the biggest concentration in the industry national manufacturer, after the nucleus 
conformed by the Federal District and the state Miranda. 
Among the industries they figure: assembling of vehicles, chemical and petrochemical products, 
fuels, asphalt, liquefied gas, paper, ceramic for construction, alcoholic drinks and 
gassy, nutritious products, cardboard containers, metallic industries, products 
pharmacists, rubbers, appliances and fertilizers. 

TRADITIONS 

The drum blows are very representative of the towns of the Venezuelan costs, 
especially of the states Vargas, Aragua, Miranda and Carabobo. They are carried out, in general, 
in the festivities dedicated to the patron saints, especially to Saint John the Baptist, one 
of those that it has bigger quantity of devote. She/he takes place the 23 and 24 of June, it dates of the 
definitive entrance of the rains. Saint John the Baptist is known as the saint of the rhythm and of the one 
drum. The instrument leader in these celebrations is the drum that varies of agreement with 
each region. In Windward the drum prevails it mines accompanied by the curbata; while 
in the center-western coast the drum cumaco that is of tubular type of an alone one highlights 
membrane. It is interpreted in group; while a dressing room sits down on the instrument and 
it strikes the membrane with the hands, other partners hit the body of the drum with 
well-known wooden bars as “rolitos” or “sticks”. The drum dance is carried out in circles; 
in the means a man harasses a woman, she tries to separate, at the same time that the one continues 
flirtation.
